Here’s a book of
J.S. Bach’s Two-Part Inventions, but metrically modified in favor of five by composer John Eidsvoog. Of Bach’s 15 inventions, the ones which are based on groups of four 16th notes have been changed to groups of five 16th notes. Some of them in 3/8 time have been changed from six 16ths in a bar to five 16ths (5/16 time), or from 3/4 time with six 8th notes to 5/8 time.
The result is a refreshing, while often difficult, re-imagining of this famous collection of 2-part inventions.
They are available individually, but purchasing the entire book is a significant saving over buying each one separately.
